Review of A Dream For Peace
To achieve anything in this life, sacrifices must be made, and as for freedom, sacrifices of redemption are needed. Sacrifice is a selfless price paid for the possession of either a tangible or intangible thing. What is the price of obtaining peace for a country (a feature of freedom)? A Dream for Peace by Dr. Ghoulem Berrah is the memoir of a patriotic nationalist and freedom fighter for his country, Algeria.
The freedom fighter, who hails from Algeria and is a student of medicine in Bordeaux, France, forms a revolutionary group with fellow Algerians in the same school to fight for their freedom from their colonial masters, France. The protagonist and his crew faced several obstacles during their struggle, the author claims; at one point, he was imprisoned, but they persisted and never gave up. He travels to different countries, like China, looking for Algerians with whom he will share the vision. They eventually made alliances with armies fighting for freedom in Morocco and Algeria. Will the group be able to realize their dreams? Grab a copy right away.
The positive aspects of the book cannot be overemphasized; the author's simplicity in English makes it much easier for the reader to understand the book. The book is a true life story, and as such, can easily be traced. The author's writing style is captivating; he includes numerous illustrations of various people and historical figures to make the story vivid and convincing to the reader. Prior to each chapter, there is always a brief summary of the chapter's contents. The theme is fighting for the freedom of African countries from their colonial masters.
The undiluted messages and lessons one can draw from this book are innumerable. I learned that it takes discipline, determination, patience, love, a positive mindset, and selfless service to be and remain a freedom fighter. I also discovered that freedom fighters must be prepared to give up their time, enjoyment, and accomplishments. Again, I discovered that if you want peace, you first prepare for war.
I was so much pleased and motivated with an elated spirit as I read through this book since I didn't detest it; I was unable to pinpoint any flaws or negative aspects. There are no grammatical or typographical errors found in this book, which is to say that it is exceptionally well-edited. For these reasons, I give the book a rating of 5 out of 5 stars.
I recommend the book to every freedom fighter and those who love reading history about how countries gain independence. I also recommend the book to all Africans, suggesting that it should be in every school library and also be added to the list of recommended novels students should read as part of their general studies, irrespective of discipline.
