True stories of horrifying truths are generally difficult to narrate, especially by the victim themselves, and equally difficult to read and comprehend for the readers to empathize forth complexity and pain. I am proud of the author and the reviewer to present this book and review with much strength and conviction.

"The Parrot's Perch" by Karen Keilt is a memoir about the author's life and what she had to live through after the Brazilian police raided her home 37 years ago. When she married her first husband Rick, he had his brother Rex live with them even though he was a drug dealer. The day Rex left the police raided her home and they found a bag of drugs and arrested her and her husband. The book details the way they were treated in jail and the hardships she endured after she divorced her husband. I am adding this book to my To-Read Shelf. Very good review.

Thank you for such a dramatic and compelling review of this real-life memoir as told by the author. Thank you also for the honesty in letting us know about its strong language and abusive content. Awesome job.

The Parrot's Perch evokes a lot of emotions with the heartwrenching story of the author, Karen Keilt. Credit goes to the author for exposing the horrible things prisoners were subjected to in jail by the corrupt Brazilian government. It is also an inspiring story that shows that pain and suffering are not permanent in life. Much praise for being BOTD.

I'm always excited to read memiors, not because of the horrors you find in the pages but for the lessons you learn. To read about 'behind the scenes' in Brazil is definitely something that interests me. The aks for a great review.

A very readable memoir, "The Parrot's Perch" by Karen Keilt, is the harrowing story of a kidnapping but by the person who suffered through the experience. It all happened in Brazil but what happened, why and what or who triggered the events are outlined in the book. It took courage to live through and write about this, Ms Keilt, bravo and our thanks to you for telling this story.

This memoir is one that speaks about strength and hope as I see. Because the author had gone through so much since her childhood and first marriage. But she is still strong enough to speak about them. And she still had strength and hope enough to fend for her and her child. I would love to grab a copy.

I have sampled several initial pages of the book, and I am attracted to how the book builds up. I am so interested to know more about Karen's life journey of struggles and fighting impunity. I like your review too.

This kind of memoir feels unreal to read but it is a real story which the author had lived. Sharing it through this book is also a courageous thing to do.

The memoir sounds interesting as the author shares her gruesome struggle to deal with the hardships, and still made her course to courageously come out of these circumstances. Congratulations on BOTD.

This feels like a deep heart searing memoir. I admire the author's ability to put down her experience however bad recounting it was. Well done for this review.
