Police brutality and abuse of authority have always been there. Unfortunately, and it doesn't matter how much we talk about it and how hard we try to change it, nothing ever happens. I admire the author's strength and I hope they get to see the day where there is no more brutality and abuse, anywhere.

Memoirs are not my cup of tea but I've read the review and the book sounds very heartwarming. You need a lot of strength to overcome what the author had to experience and even more courage to voice it out. I admire her for that. Congratulations on becoming BOTD!

An amazing memoir about the thrilling life of survival lived by the author. I wonder how Karen managed to survive jail and a corrupt Brazilian government as well as her first marriage. Congrats on the BOTD!

This is such a heartfelt memoir. Imagine someone repaying your kindness with unkindness? The theme of injustice seems to stick with us until to-date. Will we ever live in a just society?

I completely agree with your admiration for the author's strength and courage in sharing her harrowing experiences. It takes immense bravery to revisit such painful memories and open oneself up to vulnerability. By doing so, she not only sheds light on her own journey but also raises awareness about the injustices faced by many others. Her willingness to delve into vivid details truly makes the reader empathize with her ordeal and creates a powerful impact.

Life is filled with multiple sequence of experiences. Karen Kielt"s memoir is a depiction of that. It's great to learn from hardships and successes.

It takes real courage for someone to talk about their traumatic experiences. This book shows the strength and resilience of the author to go against her family and society by leaving her home to raise a child in a foreign place with no skills or resources. Thanks for this amazing review!

I wonder where this unique memoir got its name. The author is very brave for sharing her traumatic experiences, not only with the National Truth Commission but also with us. Life in prison must have been very difficult for her and her husband, especially knowing they did not deserve the sentence. Thank you for this great and informative review!

One of the injustice that is overlooked is the one perpetrated by the government. I hope the author I'd able yo find closure and justice from the narration she made to the investigative reporter. The book sound like one which i would like to read. Thanks for the review.

This is such a heart-wrenching story. Having to go through getting arrested for a crime you didn't commit. Their marriage was also disrupted because of all pains suffered through such period.

A very good review of a very interesting novel! A novel about life in Brazil is a rarity. A good one such as this, presenting the life of a rich woman whose destiny changes all of a sudden, because of her brother-in-law, is even unique. The memoir of Karen Keilt is a journey through the recent history of Brazil and it is definitely worth reading.

With such a difficult start of life, it is admirable everything the author has achieved. Thankfully, she decided to share her experience with the rest of the world.
