The incredibly informational book, Reconfigurement, by E. Alan Fleischauer, encases extensive information related to career types, career personalities, retirement investment, and all things financial planning. There are lots of topics discussed such as income protection insurance, annuities, how to research the best career choices, life insurance options, bonds, investments, government-related funding, and many more. Though this covers lots of information, the author made sure to keep it lighthearted with plenty of jokes and goofy comments.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, there is a lot to learn from it. Most of these topics were relatively new to me, likely due to my age, though it gave me a deeper perspective on what I should keep in mind as I plan my career and retirement. I greatly appreciate that the author made sure to include the pros and cons of each topic he covered without heavily weighing in with personal biases. It’s always refreshing to learn without the additional pressure from an author to side one way versus another, especially when discussing topics such as retirement and finances, which can generate strong opinions for some individuals. Finally, I liked that the author included lots of lighthearted jokes, making this dense informational book easier to read.

While I greatly enjoyed reading and learning from this book, I’d like to mention that while the lighthearted jokes genuinely helped make this easier to read, it is a book you must mentally invest in to read front to back if you’re not prepared to dig deep and learn. I enjoyed this regardless of the slow pace, although it is good to consider before reading if you’re not prepared for this.

Given that I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, I rate it 5 out of 5 stars. While it did get slow in some parts, I didn’t mind. Sometimes it’s nice to slow down and read just to learn, rather than read for the thrill of a fast-paced book.

I’d recommend this book to anyone who would like to learn more about retirement options, career changes, investing long-term, or planning for whatever life may throw at you. That being said, this book may be too slow-paced for anyone looking for quick facts, or a deeply engaging storyline. Due to this, I would not recommend this book to those who enjoy research in a strongly engaging manner.

I found no grammatical errors. Therefore, I will confidently say this book was professionally edited.
