Review of A Dream For Peace
A Dream for Peace by Dr. Ghoulem Berrah is a book that discusses a character and his encounters while he fought to live to see that Algeria is no longer under colonial rule. Dr. Ghoulem Berrah is a Muslim man who was born in Algeria. Before and during his birth, his country had already been annexed by the government of France. It was bad to the extent that even native Algerians were not allowed in the heart of the garden, where southern settlers danced and played music during holidays. Many other harsh treatments that they face, like the killing of those at the University of Algiers by OAS assassins, were among the numerous hardships faced by these people.
There have been several times when he has been outvoted whenever he makes suggestions at the UGEMA meeting. Most of his suggestions were outvoted, and these suggestions are ones that are about the well-being and progress of his people, like when he made the suggestion that students who are taking exams should be allowed to finish them before the school goes on strike. However, they also did not heed his suggestions. We can say that Berrah is like the messiah for Algeria since he made an impact on its growth, ensuring that it did not fall. How then did he succeed with this tight schedule and opposition in place? A copy of this book will reveal that.
Algerians show a high level of contentment in this book. Even while they were badly treated and restricted from going to some areas in their own country, they still obeyed and didn’t go against such orders. This is a very amazing quality that I see among the Algerians. Another fortunate thing that happened in this book was when Berrah hired some of his comrades to ease their financial burdens. He did this when he had the opportunity to get a job at the annual Bordeaux fair, a job that was given to him by the daughter of the owner of Vidal and Manega Tarpaulin Company. This is just like providing for the needs of these comrades, since they will also be able to earn and take care of themselves when they work. Many other people do not have the common sense to do this. When they are opportune to be in positions like this, they forget that they can help others who might need their help and make them somebody in life. It was also good to see that Berrah did not have any negative intentions; his intentions were always pure and harmless, unlike many people who have bad intentions towards people they help.
This book educated me, and I learned things both physical and spiritual. I learned how to deal with life even when no one seems to be reasoning the way I do. There is nothing about this book to dislike; I enjoyed every aspect of it. I give the book a rating of five out of five stars. The book contained errors, meaning that it was professionally edited. However, I found nothing negative about the book.
The book contains the losses, pains, and joy of Berrah. People interested in books about the real-life stories of good people in society should read this book.
