Review of Snatched Up to Heaven!
Snatched up to Heaven! by the authors Jemima Paul and Arvind Paul is a book for kids based on the dreams of two little kids; four-year-old Priyanka and two-year-old Deepika.
The book starts with a divine prophecy by the prophet Joel and explains its essence. Through this prophecy, the author has tried to highlight the fact that God chooses not the wise and the learned, but the children to give divine revelations. Taking this point forward, the author mentions the dream of heaven seen by her little kids. To her astonishment, the descriptions of heaven given by the kids and those written in holy books are the same. These descriptions are put down here in the form of a book. Broadly, the book comprises two sections-Heaven and Hell, each consisting of 10 chapters. Further, each chapter is divided into the visions of kids and the interpretation of these visions by the author. The author has tried to explain the possible meaning and significance of every word spoken by the kids while telling their dream. She has also taken references from holy books like the Bible to support her statements.
I appreciate the readiness shown by the author to faithfully jot down the children's explanations of their visits to heaven and hell. She has tried to keep the originality of the sentences by writing them in the childish language spoken by kids. To help the reader form conclusions, she has interpreted some phrases with the help of the Holy Bible. The meaning of the words mentioned there in the brackets helped me a lot. I was amazed when the kids said they spent a total of two days in heaven and only a few hours were relapsed on earth. Time stays still in heaven and hell! I found it so innocent when Priyanka said that there was no need for light in heaven since Jesus is the light.
Comparatively, I loved the overall presentation of the Hell part. It is more systematically represented. The meaning of each word uttered by the kids is explained point-wise. This made me easy to understand and draw a parallel between the kids' dreams and the author's interpretation. The book ends with a two-page big chart comparing heaven and hell. It provides a summary of all the previous content. The author has concluded with the pictorial representations. This is part of the book which I loved the most. The amateur drawings drawn and colored by the kids of what they saw in their dreams are so pleasing. There is also a sweet and happy author's family photo.
Overall, there was nothing I disliked about the book. Reading it was an experience full of awe and amazement that how could the two little kids dream of heaven and hell, the same as it is written in the Bible. I found no typos or grammatical errors. The book was exceptionally well-edited.
Due to the above-mentioned reasons, I rate the book 5 out of 5 stars. I recommend this book to children aged 2 to 10 years. Parents can buy this book and read it to their kids. The book not only gives a fairy tale experience to the kids but also helps them learn about God.
