Reconfiguration by E. Alan Fleischauer is a highly informative, insightful and interesting financial book. The writer of the book has been a financial advisor for more than twenty years. Every one of the thirteen chapters in this book simply describes all the steps necessary to help you on your journey to reconfiguration. This is reflected well in the book's title. The writer did a great job of cuing the content of the book by choosing this title.

Alan outlines how managing money, setting investment goals, setting up a budget and choosing careers could all be highly useful to your future. In short, this book is written to encourage people to plan for the future, especially people over fifty years old. As I was reading this book, I began thinking about my own future.

At this point in the book, the chilling truth that the clock is ticking dawned on me. I began to understand the importance of improving my life through travelling, exercising, healthy eating and recreational activities. The writer placed great importance on these actions. People who perform these good actions in the course of their life will, in turn, experience a great deal of satisfaction in old age. Whereas, people who perform bad actions in the course of their life will, in turn, experience sadness in old age.

The topics covered in the book are complex, but the writer himself is approachable to us readers simply through his usage of words. Even more, he admitted that his favourite word was free. Alan coped well with the complex topics covered in this book and his word choice added to the beauty of the book. It's admirable how the writer wrote this book. I admire how the book's wise words are interspersed with short stories and jokes, which piqued my interest in the topics covered. A smile here and there definitely added to the reading experience. I especially liked the short, insightful story about a humble but wise farmer who resided in rural Afghanistan. The moral of the story is that which is not good isn't necessarily bad. For nothing is truly black and white. I was inexplicably awestruck by this story.

Although the book is informative, not all the information is relevant to everyone as the book has been written with a focus on America. It's not easy to fully understand some topics discussed as the intended readers are Americans, so in turn, it's not possible to extrapolate those topics to other countries. I found it hard to relate to the 401(k) plan and such like things. I feel the writer could greatly broaden the scope of his work to also help readers in other countries.

On the other hand, there's a per contra. The per contra being that the writer resides and publishes in the country. Understandably, his main market is those who reside in America. Also, the writer is fully aware of the fact that the information isn't relevant to everyone as he encourages us readers to consult with our favourite financial adviser to formulate a perfect plan.

I happily give this book 5 out of 5 stars. The book is well written and well edited. I found no grammatical errors. The book inculcates the value of money through encouragement of future planning and most definitely serves as a motivation to begin the challenging but worthwhile journey to reconfiguring your life.

I would suggest this empowering book to people who are interested in finance. The book is written to encourage people to plan for the future, especially people over fifty years old. However, I would suggest this book to people of all ages. As I feel reconfiguration is possible at any age, as the adage says, with age comes wisdom.

Thank you to the writer E. Alan Fleischauer for this empowering book.
