Orwell on wheels by Bertrand is an interesting book with a story of the author's life as a city transit worker. This book discusses the author's relationships, visits to museums and restaurants, his life as a father looking after his only daughter, his life while growing up in a family with a military man as the head, accidents on the road, experiences while touring many cities, and his love for music and art galleries.

There are things I don't like about this book. First, there is no glossary or table of contents in this book, and as such, it would be difficult for a reader to trace any part of the story in this book. There are no pointers to story changes in this book. Sometimes, I realize I am reading a story about another phase of the author's life after reading 2 to 3 pages into the new story. Proper page breaks and chapters could have helped here. Also, there are some undefined acronyms I stumbled upon in this book. Page 70, for example, has this sentence: "But, the Catholic nun spinning ancient 78 rpm vinyl, yes she does LSD." I wish the author had a glossary that explained the meaning of LSD. Most of the characters in this book play minor roles and are not well-developed. They came into the picture without much evidence as to their background and origin.

What I like about this book is its originality. It also has some recommended further readings and motivational quotes, mainly from George Orwell, embedded in it. Also, this book discusses the dangers of being a city driver. The author's colleague, Eddy, for example, suffered PTSD after witnessing an accident that resulted in the death of a cyclist.

The most interesting part of this book for me is the part that details the story of two angels and a mechanic. If you want to know more about this story, read the rest of the book. Also, if you want to know why new drivers are not taught to rely on street name signs to guide their way around town, read this book. Furthermore, if you want to know why construction workers in France were once called Marcel, read this book.

This author employed the use of simple, easy-to-understand words to write this book for easy comprehension. In addition, this author is vastly fluent in some languages, like Italian and French. I was able to learn from the French and Italian found in some parts of this book. The editing of this book was not professionally done. Considering the number of editing errors in this book and the dislikes mentioned above, I am giving this book a rating of four out of five stars.

I recommend this book to city taxi drivers because it was written by their colleague based on his experiences while doing his job. Adventurers and people who love travel will also find this book insightful. Finally, music lovers will find this book interesting because it contains the names and songs of some legendary musicians.

Although I appreciate the thorough assessment, I don't find it to be all that appealing or enticing to read after reading it. Although I don't enjoy books like this, the review is positive, and the title of the book seems a little demoralizing to me. Nevertheless, I value the review.
