Is Everyone Hanging Out Without me? (And Other Concerns)

Post by Lily_Reviews »

If everyone is hanging out without Mindy Kaling then there is something wrong with everyone! One thing Mindy Kaling does not have to be concerned about is writing an entertaining, humorous, and enjoyable book. I have been a fan of Mindy since her days as a writer and actress on The Office . However, like she writes about in her first book, she is not exactly Kelly Kapoor. So who is she? This books gives the reader a sneak peek into her multi-faceted life. She chronicles her life, from her years in elementary school all the way to her experience in college and ofcourse, everything that happened to her before and after she became a writer on The Office.

If you have watched The Office or at least seen interviews of Mindy on T.V., you can almost hear her as you are reading this book. Which for me was the best part. She really has a distinct voice, both literally and figuratively in her writing. She is herself in her writing and you feel like you are her girlfriend/best friend/co-worker/neighbor and she is chatting with you about her life.

For us 20-somethings trying to have a career in whatever field we are interested in, Mindy's account of how she "made-it" is inspirational, without coming off as preachy, know-it-all, or even advice. It just has an inherit inspirational aspect because we feel like Mindy is one of us and is relate able.

I recommend Is Everyone Hanging Out Without me? (And Other Concerns) for all of Mindy Kaling's fans and for those that want a easy read on a lazy afternoon, you won't be disappointed.
