Addressing Systemic Discrimination by Reframing the Problem by Dr. Frank L. Douglas is a book that introduces and demonstrates new concepts in addressing discrimination, especially between blank and white people. The first part focuses on Equity, Inclusion, and Individual Engagement Principle which states that equity must work with inclusion to create a culture which individual engagement can flourish. It states that inclusion without equity is a delusion. The second part is a series of cases of individuals who volunteered to participate in the Safe Haven Dialogue’s Reframing process. It illustrates their desired outcome, situation, current environment, problem, and the issues surrounding inclusion and equity in their respective organizations. After that, SHD Reframing Process was used to identify a Better Problem to Solve and then Reframed the Problem.

It is my first time reading a book about addressing discrimination and it made me realize that I have experienced micro insults, microaggressions, and micro assaults in my workplace before. This book does not sugarcoat it. It tells the problem of discrimination that is being faced in the workplace as it is and introduces practical approaches. The instances presented are captivating, educational, and inclusive.

It is obvious that the author had a personal encounter with the discrimination stated in the book and that he had done extensive research about it. You can tell that even though it was written professionally, it is from a personal perspective. The author has experienced discrimination himself and used that experience as a voice to address the problem.

I rate Addressing Systemic Discrimination by Reframing the Problem by Dr. Frank L. Douglas 5 stars out of 5 stars because of the amount of research that went into this book. It's not written without the proper information and experiences required.

I recommend this book to everyone. It is enlightening and captivating, whether you have already experienced discrimination or not.
