Review of Cadlelight to Gaslight

A wrong spouse can bring pain and sorrow to a partner's life. This is a story about a young boy who grew up to be a pastor, married a loving wife, and had beautiful children, but when he thought things were going fine, he uncovered the biggest secret that had destroyed his marriage.
Candlelight to Gaslight by M. Alex Rayes is a nonfiction novel about the author as he grew up with his faith and believed in a greater purpose God had for him. Alex dropped out of college at an early age to do the work of the Lord. He became a minister, and he pastored several small churches in northern Michigan, and Kentucky. He was married to Sara, a lady whose home was broken. Sara followed him everywhere as a loving wife for years until she met Mike, a friend of Alex's, at the newest church he pastored. Everything about her changed when she started texting Mike. The faithful and loving wife became a liar and a cheat. This novel was narrated by the author like a fictional novel; he viewed himself from a third-person perspective by narrating it this way, and this made this novel interesting to read. Alex's demeanor towards Sara is what I admire, and I also admire the fact that he didn't lose his rage from the temptation that he was facing. Most people in his case would act otherwise, and that may result in loss of life and regretful decision-making. Another thing I loved about this novel is that Alex still found love at the worst time of his life. What Sara threw at him, Abigail threw the opposite; she showed him the love that made him retain his sanity and not suffer from PTSD. I admired the fact that Alex went back to pursue education after dropping out many years ago as a youngster.
What I disliked about this novel is the fact that Alex couldn't see that he had been used by people all his life; he was treated like a doormat, and it hurts my feelings to see someone good treated that way. I also found so many errors in this novel, which affected my reading process.
Because of the dislikes listed above, I would give this novel a rating of 4 out of 5 stars, as I believe that the novel should have been better edited since it is a short novel. I also believe the author could have done more by giving more details in the description of his novel.
I would recommend this novel to spouses, partners, and relationship counselors, as these groups of people would find it extremely valuable. I would also recommend this novel to non-fiction readers, as the story of Alex is an educational one to learn from.
