Review of Always Strive to Be a Better You
We all often pass through rough patches in life. Nonetheless, it all depends on our capability of how we respond to those circumstances: optimistically or pessimistically. Always Strive to Be a Better You by Pete Hall is an insightful and motivational self-help book that helps to understand your inner self and unleash many hidden obstacles that curtail you to become your best self.
Pete Hall is a motivational speaker and leadership expert. He has coached thousands of people across the globe, like teachers, professional athletes, social workers, small business owners, etc. His book comprises 13 chapters under four tenets. These chapters decipher each tenet categorically. As the name suggests, the book's central theme is to lead a good, virtuous, and happy life through learning and spiritual growth. So it focuses on improving our self-image with better self-awareness. It teaches us how we can maintain our composure in critical and challenging situations and how we can channelize our energy to achieve our desired goals.
The four tenets (key learning modules) discussed in the book are Know thyself, Work for love, Let your light shine, and Rule the day. The author opines that in order to achieve your goals and objectives successfully, you need to have a clear self-image. Our soliloquy counts a lot in making our way through our chosen ambitions. Moreover, positive thinking and a flexible mindset can better help to accomplish our aims and lead to inner satisfaction and ultimately a happy and contended life.
In this book, the author interviewed seven ordinary but successful people from different walks of life and shared their views on how they faced the vicissitudes of life and molded themselves through introspection, clear self-image, and analyzing and turning their weaknesses into strengths.
The author’s writing style is pleasant, conversational, and easy to follow. The book scientifically deals with personality traits. I appreciate the book includes “call to action” buttons for readers to keep them engaged in a journey to live an extraordinary life. The author engages readers to go deeper into the context and analyze how they can outshine their existing selves by choosing a more vigilant, and prescient approach towards life.
In addition, I liked he added some insightful metaphors (e.g. antelopes) in his book that well-elaborates on the human struggle in life. Besides, excerpts from different books make the reading more engaging. For clarity, the author has added links to digital templates for readers that can be downloaded from his website and can help them build their plans and improve their personalities through self-reflection.
Altogether, the author takes you through all the stages of learning and growth. Readers will find this book absolutely helpful in improving themselves mentally, spiritually, and financially. There is nothing to dislike in the book. Moreover, the editing is superb. I sailed through the book easily without having any significant issue. So, on the whole, this is a thought-provoking and practical self-help book and deserves a rating of 5 out of 5 stars. This book is a perfect match for anyone interested in living healthy, happy, and tranquil life.
