The title caught my attention immediately, and I just knew that I had to read this book. And I am not disappointed at all! I can’t remember when I last laughed so much due to a book, someone else’s unfortunate events, or just overall. I am also embarrassed to admit that these events were way too familiar and relatable. I have had many cringe-worthy moments similar to the author's, which made this book just so much more entertaining to read. I am so happy you put this book out there, Poppy Mortimer, although I am sorry you went through it.

The hilarious and cringe-worthy events ran from pictures of a humongous horror ‘member’ from Mr. Strongman to the terrified and non-protective fireman and the rageaholic hunk who was funny one moment and raging the next. Then cue in a change in pattern from searching for a confident man to a shy guy with issues. The author then moved to Australia and was told about her next date, not asked to go on one. I can’t stop reading; the way the author describes her meeting her dates and how the dates went is pure bliss! She definitely has a talent for words and hooking you in. I couldn’t help but hold my breath while reading your entire experience about the very forward older captain on the non-date cruise. I can’t even imagine the time with Mr. Yogi... Mr. Vegan was a complete—a word I can’t mention here—and I am very happy you and Alfie got away from him. With Mr. Salsa, I don’t have words except run and run fast and far away. I didn’t think it could get any worse by date number ten, but the universe proved that was entirely possible.

Definitely, kudos to you for getting out of dodge with Mr. Muscles. His audacity rocked my boat. Bring on the move to Los Angeles, US, in search of more spice in life. Mr. Gigantic Coffee = ouch! I don’t have anything else to say, as the author summed it up perfectly. The date with Mr. Sharmen and Janet had me laughing out loud—I am sorry for that! Mr. Oh my God, I can't imagine being with this guy. He definitely has issues, and his length is the least of them. I tip my hat to you for continuously trying to find your partner with all of the disastrous dates that you have experienced. I didn’t even mention half of the dates in my review, but I can promise you, readers, that all of these stories are worth the read. You will be wiping the tears from your eyes; whether it is due to the humor of the situation or your feelings towards our author and her terrible experiences, I can’t say. I just know that all of us had a similar experience with the author.

I absolutely loved the way the author told her stories and how conversational they were. One of the sayings I enjoyed the most was ‘Procreate with this man, woman!’ and then being absolutely flabbergasted by what followed. I enjoyed how, at the end of each disastrous date, she explained what she gained from each disastrous date, but my favorite is that she realized that men who can keep their egos in check and appreciate her independence and passion are at the top of her list of needs in a man. I could relate entirely too much when the author said that she subconsciously adjusted her behavior to curb her date’s reactions as she was afraid of "triggering" her date by saying or doing the wrong things according to him, which I have learned the hard way is not healthy at all! If this is you as well, break that habit immediately and stop suppressing yourself for others. You are worth so much more!

I rate 28 Disastrous Dates: A (Mostly True) Humourous Memoir by Poppy Mortimer a perfect 5 out of 5 stars. There was absolutely nothing I disliked about this book. I loved every inch of it, and the editing was also professionally done, as I didn’t spot any errors. This is one of the few books about personal experiences that kept me hooked from the start to the end and had the emotions inside of me riding rollercoasters. PS: Poppy, I think The Arabian Knight was the one for you!
