I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. It has minimal editing errors, allowing readers to immerse themselves in its powerful and empathetic narrative.

This book is an inspiring call to make a meaningful difference in the world and serves as a testament to the transformative power of literature.

Kashmir is a beautiful yet mysterious place. Its snow-capped mountains, clear blue skies and vast green meadows make it a captivating destination for tourism. However, a quick search on Google reveals a contrasting reality. News headlines highlight issues such as boycotts, terrorism, with an occasional tourism update.

The writer has given a voice to Kashmiris, offering a voice that otherwise would have otherwise remained unheard. This thought-provoking book raises existential questions and moral dilemmas. When faced with adversity, when does pacifism give way to violence? To what extent are we willing to sacrifice our personal well-being for the betterment of society?

Moreover, the book delves into the intricate relationship between individuals and their nations. What happens when one's allegiance to their homeland is put to the ultimate test? Would you choose to remain devoted to your nation, even after losing everything, or would you find solace in seeking a new path elsewhere? These questions force us to confront the complexities of patriotism, belonging, and personal identity.

It makes my blood boil to imagine the injustice and abuse faced by the women of Kashmir, irrespective of their age or religious affiliations. The very authorities entrusted with their protection often become perpetrators, employing humiliation as a weapon to punish their male family members. Whilst humiliation and stigma can be a lethal weapon, the women continue to speak out against the violations of human rights.

This book also mentions the repercussions of the longest internet blackout ever imposed by a democracy, particularly during a time of global crisis like the pandemic. I can feel the agony inflicted upon Kashmiris who are silenced, forced into oblivion, and deprived of access to information.
