As the title says, 28 Disastrous Dates: A (Mostly True) Humorous Memoir contains the details of 28 different dates the author has had over the past 20 years and how each one took a downward turn. The book has 28 chapters and every chapter is dedicated to one date. The chapters have funny titles summarising the qualities of the men as well as the details of the weird occurrences during the dates. At the end of the chapters, the author includes the lessons she learnt from the dates.

I enjoyed reading about every one of the 28 Disastrous Dates so much that I was sorry when the book ended. Poppy Mortimer's writing style is humorous and the happenings during those dates are unbelievably funny. I can't quite decide which of the dates made me laugh the most. It is a tie between Mr Tikka Masala and Mr Muscles. I felt quite sorry for Mr Bat Cave. I agree with the author that smoking shouldn't ruin a person's dentition as badly as that of Mr Bat Cave. Although, I've heard certain hard drugs can do it. Of all of the dates, I think Mr Vegan had the most potential. It's too bad he lied about something so important.

In any case, I think my favourite thing about this book is how relatable it is. Reading this book will let anyone who's been on a horrible date know that they are not alone. Personally, I've experienced some of the disastrous dates in this book and I know people who have experienced some others, but the rest are simply mind blowing.

I enjoyed reading this book because of the funny, relatable content, the writing style of the author, and the great editing. There was nothing I disliked about this book. For these reasons I rate this book five out of five stars.

I recommend this book to adults who enjoy reading memoirs, non fiction, or funny books. Anyone who has had unpleasant dating experiences will definitely relate to and benefit from the book.
