Review of A Dream For Peace
Getting to know a person who is no longer alive through a book they wrote is something I never thought I would be able to experience, but thanks to the writer of this book, it was achievable and fruitful.
The idea of having a real person actually achieve so many things and work in very different sectors isn’t something I ever imagined to be real, even though there are so many examples of people doing so. I never thought I’d ever be able to observe one this close. In A Dream For Peace, Dr. Ghoulem Berrah leads us through his life and all the things that he has become and overcome. It was indeed a lot, since one person couldn’t be capable of doing all of this without dedicating their whole life and pushing through to do what they believe they should be doing.
What I love the most about this book is the journey itself and how the writer was capable of speaking about all the places, people, and circumstances he has been through as if they just happened, hence how detailed the stories in every chapter are, not to mention the pictures that were included in the book to help you have a clear idea of who is who and who are they.
I also love how the book wasn’t only about the writer’s life but also about so many other things, such as the history of his own country and the changes that were happening throughout the years, and how his existence contributed to all of that in so many different ways. It almost felt like a historical lesson that was given in a very unique way.
Moreover, I appreciate the author's eagerness to discuss his romantic life and the various challenges he encountered. I like how he gave a clear description of what he believes a relationship should be like or feel like, and how if something is significant enough, a person will fight for it no matter what. There, he imparted a very important lesson that will always be remembered.
As I have mentioned, there were so many messages within the book, but the most important of them all is the one the title of the book holds, which is A Dream For Peace," and that was the one the writer focused on the most, hence the chapters he dedicated to it.
This novel was one of the best novels I have read, and I can’t find anything I dislike about it, not to mention that it is exceptionally edited since I found zero errors while reading it. Therefore, I rate the book 5 out of 5 stars.
I recommend this novel for people who are interested in reading about history, especially the history of Africa, or for anyone interested in reading an autobiography.
