Always Strive to Be a Better You: How Ordinary People Can Live Extraordinary Lives by Pete Hall is a self-help book that is geared towards helping people develop a better version of themselves by following through 13 key strategies and lessons.

In our everyday lives, we always aim to be better than we were the previous day. This book was written to ignite the inner power within you which would allow growth and success. The author starts by asking what are some of the ways that we can lead a good, happy, and virtuous life. With this question, he presents the lives of seven ordinary people who have been able to lead extraordinary lives. The author presents four tenets that guide the study of the 13 strategies that are discussed in the book. The four tenets include; know thyself, work for love, let your light shine, and rule the day. These four guiding principles are essential in fully expounding the thirteen strategies that would lead to a better life.

The book presents 'clean your mirror' as a strategy that ought to be embraced by all, to have a clear visual identification of who they are. We must clean our mirrors so that we can have an idea of who we truly are. In line with cleaning the mirror, the author presents the strategy of knowing oneself to the core. One question that stood out to me in this case, was 'Who are you?' This is a very deep question that allows self-reflection and self-awareness of who we are, and what we represent in the world. We must pay attention to the adjectives that we use in describing ourselves because it reflects how we carry ourselves every day of our lives.

Hall is an adept author, this is seen in how effortlessly and seamlessly he weaves the book to produce the masterpiece that we currently have at our disposal. The author interviewed the seven subjects to help in explaining the thirteen strategies presented. He seamlessly weaves the responses of each subject such that it aligns with the matter at hand or the topic under discussion. It is essential to note that the author has used seven different subjects, who are strikingly different in all that they do, and the encounters that they have faced in life. Each of these subjects presents something new and fresh that ought to be embraced by everyone reading the book.

I really like the fact that the author uses subjects who are relatable, ordinary people who live ordinary lives; but have been able to carve their way out of the ordinary and do extraordinary things. The book truly motivates me as I was able to relate to some of the struggles that some characters faced. For instance, Chelsea talks about the fear of being judged and not being liked for who she is, this is something most people struggle with, and I also struggle with it. Therefore, by presenting the solutions shared in the book, I can lead a better life and overcome this challenge. I also like the fact that the book presents pondering questions and moments that the reader ought to pause and reflect on questions that highly affect the overall well-being of their lives.

The book was well-edited, as I did not find any grammatical errors. I enjoyed reading the book and loved every aspect of it. There's nothing I disliked about the book. I rate the book 5 out of 5 stars. This is truly a motivating and inspiring read that would help one improve their everyday life through actionable tips. I highly recommend the book to people who enjoy non-fiction motivational books, leaders, coaches, and anyone who would love a captivating read that would impact their lives.
