Thriving the Storm is the life journey from having an abusive childhood to a promising future help others overcome. This book is a 4 out of 4!
This is one of the self-help books that comes with great tools of how to make yourself just that much better. From making peace with your past to realizing you cannot do it all alone, Murphy covers a lot of ground and gives great tools to help you with the steps.
Don’t think this is only a self-help book. This is Murphy own autobiography that is used to help you see the process. Bill Murphy navigates through his real-life experiences that would overwise seem impossible with the greatest success. He shows you how he was able to navigate the steps that are outlined in the book and apply them to his own life. He is the poster child for practicing what you preach.
This is not just a book to read but it is a book to practice. Thru out the book you will need to grab a pen and notebook to complete the exercises. Please know that they are not as simple as writing a grocery list. The exercises will make you think and have all types of emotions. You will be forces to self-reflect and you just may have your own break through moments. This is why I gave it 5 out of 5.
There are times that the book is hard to read. Murphy openness about his own physical abuse may be trigging for some. His willingness to tell his truth in this manner allows you to his own strength and how you can lay it all out there to be finally release the past ot your present.
From telling his story, he will allow you to acknowledge your it or its, accept it, release it, manage it, and reclaim what is yours. You will move from success to significance.
