Reconfigurement by E. Alan Fleischauer offers a transformative perspective on retirement planning. In this thought-provoking nonfiction book, Fleischauer addresses the common challenges faced by individuals who fail to adequately prepare for their retirement years. Through his insightful analysis, the author emphasizes the significance of developing a comprehensive retirement plan and presents a range of retirement options for readers to consider. The book takes readers on a systematic journey, guiding them through essential aspects of retirement planning. Fleischauer delves into various critical topics such as insurance, net income, etc. These insights provide readers with a solid foundation for making informed decisions regarding their financial future.

One of the key themes explored in this book is the tendency of many young individuals to live in the present without giving much thought to their future. Fleischauer cautions against this short-sighted approach, revealing the detrimental consequences that can arise when individuals reach their retirement years without proper savings or investments. Reconfigurement further emphasizes the importance of staying engaged in meaningful activities even after retirement. Fleischauer encourages readers to pursue work that they enjoy, ensuring that it brings fulfilment without demanding excessive time commitments. The book highlights the negative impact of idleness after retirement and urges individuals to find purposeful endeavors that can potentially generate income and maintain their sense of purpose.

I liked reading this book, as I feel like it can be a life-changing book that offers invaluable insights into retirement planning. Regardless of age, anyone can embark on a journey of reconfiguration by creating a solid retirement plan. It not only raises awareness about the challenges individuals may face if they neglect proper preparation, but also provides practical guidance and solutions to ensure a fulfilling and financially secure retirement. By immersing themselves in the pages of this book, readers gain a deeper understanding of the essential elements required to design a robust retirement plan that aligns with their unique circumstances.

The only thing I mildly disliked about this book was how it was mainly centered around certain policies, but that was something already said by the author initially. The author encouraged the readers to find out about the policies and investments in their own countries, with helpful tips on how to find them.

I would rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. I would recommend this to people who are into financial planning. However, this book may not be appropriate for people who don’t like budgeting and planning.
