My heart constricts every time I hear about anybody being diagnosed with cancer. Winning the War on Cancer, The Epic Journey Towards a Natural Cure by Sylvie Beljanski is a non-fiction book about Mirko Beljanski, PhD, biologist, and her father. Through his research, he discovered natural extracts to treat cancer which worked far better than the conventional treatment. Sylvie Beljanski narrates the story of how she carried on her father's legacy after he faced opposition from the French government.

This is one of the most inspiring stories I have had the opportunity to read recently. At first, it was a bit difficult for me to understand the origin of cancer and how the treatment worked. However, it was explained more than once throughout the story and I was able to get the full picture. One of the most amazing things I learned is that the extracts Dr. Mirko Beljanski discovered can treat not only prostrate cancer but ovarian cancer as well, as the extract’s activity is not based on any specific organ or gender.

It is not a surprise that this information about natural extracts to treat cancer is not common knowledge. Reading this book made me see the reason why the pharmaceutical industry is so big and profitable. They make their profit by selling synthetic medicines because selling natural products will not make them any money as they cannot patent nature. It is really sad to know that these companies continue getting bigger.

I would rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. Definitely, this book inspired me to learn more about natural alternatives to take care of my health. Also, it made me think about my emotions and the role they play in my overall health. I believe this is a book everybody should read. It is of the utmost importance for all of us to have access to all the available information regarding our healthcare.

Sylvie Beljanski continues carrying on her father’s legacy through The Beljanski Foundation.
