Tania and her husband, Aaron, adopted Wilbur, a rescue dog in need of a happy and loving family. Dealing with problems of her own, Tania believed Wilbur would fill up the gaping mess in her life. She was right. Wilbur was the perfect dog to invest love and time in. Wilbur was a nice, loyal, cool, and loving dog. He filled everyone that came across him with affectionate warmth and comfort. Everyone gravitated towards him, even children. Just the perfect fit for his new family. Everything seemed wonderful until Wilbur showed unhealthy signs of discomfort. This worried Tania and Aaron. They started spending extra money to cater for Wilbur’s needs. Several vet appointments later, the doctor revealed terrifying news about Wilbur to his family.

This news threw the family into anguish. An anguish which proved difficult to recover from. What is this news? Did the family recover from it? Did Wilbur ever get comfortable? Nine Months by Tania Tomyn explains these questions and many more. This captivating book tells the story of little Wilbur from the perspective of his carer. When I first saw the book, I expected it to be an overbearing, lengthy prose by a dog-obsessed owner. I thought the book would contain overwhelming information about owning a dog. However, the words on the pages of this book brought me ceaseless gratification. I read the book repeatedly to squeeze out its satisfying juice. I didn’t have to pretend to enjoy the book.

As much as the book discussed dogs, it also spoke about the warmth of a caring family. The book taught the importance of sacrificing, compromising, and moving on. Wilbur’s first night in his new family came with its hardship, but everyone came together as one to make it work. I loved reading about Tania tending to her dogs, as one would care for a child. It might not be anything new to most dog lovers, but there is something about this detail that made the action more endearing. I didn’t always understand why people obsessed over furry animals until I read this enlightening book. Tania had her issues she battled with and so did little Wilbur. His childhood trauma, combined with Tania’s problems, made a powerful story to tell.

I disliked nothing about this beautiful book. Everything about it warmed my heart. The author told Wilbur’s story pleasantly, which had me digging for more. This book not only served as an entertaining read but as an adventure-filled tale too. The happiness and pain detailed in this book turned out to be infectious. Nothing seemed forced, just an owner’s genuine appreciation for her dogs.

I would proudly rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. The author’s narration style and description were up to par. The very first page of the book gripped me. This book is the perfect example of less is more. The author didn’t overwhelm readers with unnecessary detail. She went straight to the point with the needed information. The author created a powerful book with Wilbur’s tear-jacking story. I also loved that heavy and ambiguous words were not used to relay information. The author kept the narration easy and understandable. This aided with the smooth navigation of the story. Even more appealing is that the book was error-free. I didn’t find a single error to displease me. This shows careful writing and excellent editing prowess. Accolades to the author.

I would recommend this amazing book to pet owners, dog lovers, and animal enthusiasts. This book has all the themes that would interest them. It’d also serve as an occupying entertainment that’d leave them smiling through tears. I would also recommend this book to lovers of short stories. This book is a refreshing read that would provide such readers with cool relaxation.
