Dr. Ghoulem Berrah believed in peace. His love for peace drove him into the arms of activism. He was born into a relatively comfortable life. He could have chosen to do what most people did and live his life the traditional way. He could have gone to school, married, and lived out his days peacefully and quietly. Instead, he chose differently. He chose to fight for Algeria’s freedom. As time passed, he took on several roles that saw him broker peace between nations like Israel and Palestine. As the Special Adviser to President Houphouët-Boigny, he ensured that the right things were done. Dr. Ghoulem Berrah lived a life that many will only dream of, and his driving force was his thirst and hunger for peace. He tells his life story in this book, which he wisely titled A Dream For Peace.

A Dream For Peace filled my heart with strong emotions. I felt love for the author. I felt envious of his achievements. I felt gratitude for the things he had accomplished. Algeria got the freedom it desperately desired, thanks to him and his colleagues. He helped me see what true diplomacy looks like.

This book is not only about the fight for Algeria’s freedom or the peace talks between Israel and Palestine. It is also about love, devotion, and dedication. Just as much as Dr. Ghoulem Berrah fought for what he thought was right, he also loved with a passion. For example, he loved his mother. I could feel that love just by reading about it in the book. He also wrote about his marriages and the experiences he had.

This book is filled with inspiring stories on every page, but what I liked most was the fact that Dr. Ghoulem Berrah included pictures in it. There is something about pictures of real people and places that warms my heart. These pictures, on their own, tell stories of the things that were seen many years ago. The quality is not as great as you would expect, but I loved them anyway.

A Dream For Peace taught me many lessons. It told me what it takes to be a diplomat. It taught me that peace is achievable. The only thing stopping it from becoming a reality is us humans. It taught me that nothing is as sweet as freedom. I saw this when I read about Algeria’s liberation from France in the book. I did not dislike anything about this book. It has made me love and respect Dr. Ghoulem Berrah so much that he is officially one of my role models.

Besides filling the book with so much information about his past, Dr. Ghoulem Berrah ensured it was edited exceptionally well. That means there was no typographical error in it. A Dream For Peace does not have a negative aspect. Therefore, I have decided to give it a rating of 5 out of 5 stars.

A Dream For Peace reveals much about Dr. Ghoulem Berrah’s life. It tells the stories of the things he saw and did. If you have heard about this wonderful man and would love to learn more about him, then please read this book. On the other hand, if books about diplomacy and activism (especially during the time France colonized some African countries) interest you, I recommend that you get a copy of A Dream For Peace as soon as possible.
