Review of Snatched Up to Heaven!
Snatched Up to Heaven! is a religious book by Jemima Paul with Arvind Paul. In 2011, their daughter, Priyanka, had a dream about Heaven. This dream was the first of many that she, and her sister, Deepika, would have. The book reproduces the accounts of their visions. The author interprets these accounts and describes parallels written in the Bible with quoted scripture.
The numerous dreams describe Heaven and Hell. The girls relay facts about both. They recount streets of gold, meeting Jesus, and being carried by angels. The author shows that these details align with Bible verses. Heaven is a place free of sin, free of pain and suffering, and a place filled with love. Hell is a hot, uncomfortable place filled with fire. Tortured people reside here, punished for their actions on earth. The girls eagerly tell their parents about their dreams, causing wonderment and gratitude at the gifts God has bestowed on their family.
The author holds a Doctorate in Christian Education. Her expertise and knowledge of the Bible are apparent as she quotes scripture. The scripture relates to the dreams and aligns with the accounts. This depth of research is admirable and provides more credibility. The scripture is intermingled perfectly with the interpretations, which is very interesting. Bible scripture can be difficult to understand, but the author has a great way of simplifying the content.
The book contains some strong opinions. I found it surprising that the author believes Halloween is a dangerous demonic celebration held once a year. As a reader, you may not agree with some opinions, but it is interesting to learn about other perspectives. Explanations of the difference between remorse and repentance are enlightening and leave you with something to think about. I enjoyed learning about dedication to faith and passion to deliver the word of God to the world. You cannot help but feel grateful for the determination to share knowledge to ensure entrance to Heaven.
There are some tables scattered throughout the book. My favourite one compared Heaven to Hell. I thought this was great to summarise. Another great addition is family photographs and drawings by the children, displaying what they saw in their dreams. I liked this personal touch and the visual description. The book also features an epilogue that states how their lives have changed since experiencing the dreams. It is nice how the family dedicate themselves to their faith and how this has evolved.
This book is more suited for a Christian audience and includes a lot of Bible scripture. I was impressed by the research and knowledge and liked how the author interpreted her daughter's dreams. I found zero spelling or grammar mistakes. The editing is exceptional. I found nothing to dislike about the book. I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.
