Review of Wisdom
Wisdom by Arun Mago is a collection of essays that express his view on a myriad of topics. Each essay is typically three to four pages in length. The topics the author has touched on range from economics to relationships, from technology to self-help, and from hard-hitting truths to philosophy. Arun gives his own view and spin on these topics and inspires his readers.
The book starts with the author’s musings on one of the fundamental roles in a person’s life- teacher. In this essay, Arun Mago not only talks about teachers in academia but parents, friends, hardships and many others that teach one lessons throughout one’s life. From there, he talks about the importance of being productive and logical. There are inspirational essays on how to overcome hardships, how failure is essential to success, and the importance of always being on the lookout for opportunities. The author also talks about money, being rich and the illegal ways in which money is hoarded. There are also philosophical pieces discussing the meaning of beauty, life, and patience.
I liked the essays on money and productivity. As a chartered accountant, the author is very well qualified and practical in his advice regarding the nature of money, good spending habits, corruption and black money. And also as a person with a demanding career, his tips on conserving time and productivity are very inspiring and useful. I also liked how the author had compressed most of his principles into abbreviations so the readers can easily memorize them. The author is also humorous, and it made reading about serious topics also fun.
There is nothing I specifically disliked about the content of the book. However, at the end of some of the essays, there is mention of liking and sharing the posts. These sentences could have been edited so the readers don’t lose the flow of reading the book. I couldn’t find any grammatical errors in the book. There is no profanity, violence, and erotic content.
I give this book 5 out of 5 stars because there are no errors and it is thought-provoking. I recommend this book to young adults and adults. I also recommend this book to readers who enjoy collections of essays.
