Bertha’s Battle: A Lesson in Faith and Survival by Bertha Kreinhop and Mel Calvert is the inspiring story of a woman named Bertha, who bravely faced many adversities. Bertha was born in Indiana in 1932. Throughout her life, she encountered medical emergencies and personal losses that took a toll on her. Despite every challenge, she never gave up or lost faith in God. The book opens with a description of her undergoing chemotherapy, which was an extremely grueling experience for her, both physically and mentally. Throughout the book, we learn more about her life and the challenges she faced with unwavering faith in God.

The book is truly inspirational and motivational for anyone going through difficult times. Even when dealing with tough subjects like cancer, the authors maintain a light and humorous tone, ensuring that the book never feels too heavy. The story also highlights the ways in which the community rallied around Bertha during her illness, providing support and assistance.

However, the book does have some shortcomings that could be addressed. It would have been more impactful if the authors had delved into more personal details about Bertha's ordeals. Many topics felt glossed over, reducing the reader's personal connection with the book. Additionally, introducing characters more effectively by describing their personalities or idiosyncrasies would have made them feel more real and relatable.

Overall, I would rate Bertha’s Battle: A Lesson in Faith and Survival 3 out of 5 stars. The book has done exceptionally well in its editing, as I couldn't find any typos, grammatical errors, or inaccuracies. It provides a beautiful account of bravery in the face of adversity. However, it could have been even more powerful by delving deeper into the personal aspects of Bertha's journey.

I would recommend this book to anyone going through rough predicaments, especially medical challenges. However, it is better suited for believers of the Christian faith, as the authors often emphasize the importance and power of prayers and faith in God. The Christian faith and community played significant roles in Bertha’s life, and these aspects are reflected throughout the book.

Undoubtedly, your faith in God will save you. because God listens to those who have faith in him. I am awed by her life-inspiring story, which shows that no matter what you are going through in life, always trust and talk to God because he will fight for you. I adore your honesty in reviewing this book! I am delighted to read this book.

I have to admit that the title of this book is what peaked my interest. My mother’s name is Bertha and she too experienced many struggles through her life and her faith in God helped her through it all. I agree with the author that describing the details of her struggles would likely help the readers to be more engaged and possibly learn from Bertha’s coping mechanisms.
