While the concept of a family remains the same, its structure evolves over time. There are many new, different, and unique kinds of families in the modern world, and Different Family Structures by Mildred Stallworth outlines a large variety of them. I thought this was a very honest, inclusive, thoughtful, and informative book. The book starts off by describing what a family actually is, which is a thought that I feel most people might take for granted as they never actually think about it. Then the author talks about some very important concepts like family values, violence, the purpose of family, family unit structures, and much more. There is also a great chapter about parenting.

I actually really enjoyed this book in general. The writing style was direct, simple, and easy to comprehend. I liked the structure of the book because it had a logical order. I thought that the book was a reflection of the amount of thinking the author did about the different and constantly evolving categories of families.

I also thought that the book was professionally edited because I found no typos or errors, grammatical or otherwise. This book serves as a compassionate textbook of sorts for those who wish to learn more about the complicated idea of a family in a complicated world.

There was nothing that I disliked about this book. It has a quick reading time due to its short length as well. I rate this book a solid 5 out of 5 stars because I thought it was a great read. There were also some beautiful quotes scattered throughout the book that I thought brought a great refreshing value to the table.

I would definitely recommend this book to those that wish to learn more about the growing variety of modern family structures.
