Review of Niching Up
Informative, engaging, and thought-provoking.
I give this book 5 out of 5 stars.
It was well-written and the format it was presented in was appealing and engaging. I was able to complete reading this book in one evening. It was an immersive experience.
In Niching Up by Chris Dreyer, the author shares in a very personal and relatable way, how “niching up” impacted himself and his business, and how most individuals and businesses can also benefit from “Niching Up”. He is very transparent and balanced in his explanations and experiences.
I have never thought of "niching". This book illustrated perfectly, all aspects, positive and negative. It was reassuring to read about Mr. Dreyer's success by trial and error, from his firsthand experiences. Although I did not quite catch some of his storytelling references (Non – American here ), he was able to explain it in a way that any reader of any skill level could understand.
I know a major personal handicap is monetizing my skills. I am Gen-X, surviving in an age of rapid changes in technology, with a fair understanding of same. I find more and more of my associates are experiencing difficulties adapting and surviving these waves of change.
I have had many clients, associates and other individuals attempting to do what I do, their rationalization being it’s easy anyone can do it, or why should I pay you a premium for a regular service? Most times they are not able to achieve what I would, and require “janitorial services” at a discounted rate. These experiences of Mr. Dreyer are so relatable, I feel confident that even if “Niching Up” is not for me, some of his techniques can apply to me and my business.
Having read of “Niching Up”, I find that Mr. Dryer’s failures and successes gives the reader confidence to keep trying in any industry, as he says from the get-go, “Niching Up” is not for everyone. If it works for you, great! If it doesn’t, there is something else out there for you. It motivates you to go find what’s out there for you!
Before reading this book, I would have never thought of “Niching Up”, nor reassessing my skillset for a specific market. It has motivated me to re-examine, compare and restructure my individual matrix.
Niching Up by Mr. Dreyer, has substantial information on the author’s personal methodology for success. This author has provided tools and techniques to achieve this.
I would recommend this book to anyone interested in specializing in a particular market or skill.
I would include this book in my business resource toolkit.
