Purpose, by Gina Bianchini, is an insightful and comprehensive read about discovering and materialising your purpose.

Gina starts off with a personal, yet powerful childhood story that sheds light on her obsession with what she calls shared purpose. Effectively, this establishes the profoundness of purpose to her and draws in the reader as her writing is anything but groundless.

When I picked up the book, I anticipated many cliches and redundancies on the subject-matter. To my surprise, Purpose was unlike most texts I have encountered on the topic of purpose! The book shatters my expectations by challenging the traditional, popular conception that purpose is some singular, grand destination that one presumably reaches at the end of their lives. In fact, Purpose presents a refreshing perspective that one’s purpose is really the aggregate of smaller, multiple purposes. As such, we have more control over our grand purpose than we imagine. Through an elaborate daily ritual, Purpose takes the reader on a journey to discovering their own purpose and helps the reader redirect their time, talents, energy, and focus to what really matters – their purpose.

While the idea of striving towards your purpose is very personal and intimate, Purpose offers a far more comprehensive outlook and engages the reader into looking both inward and outward. In looking inward, you employ your imagination and engage your curiosity to establish what your purpose is. In looking outward, one is then motivated to establishing their purpose as a shared one to make a greater, and more meaningful impact.

I consider the book an excellent read! Precisely because I did not have to travel to the Himalayas to find my purpose. The book presents steps that are actionable, easy to follow, and have been proven to work. What I liked most about the book are the tasks which are fun and easy to execute. This, in fact, takes away the heaviness that is always associated with contemplating purpose. Although this is Gina’s first book, her writing is both coherent and engaging. Accordingly, I rate the book 5 out of 5 stars.
