Follow in the Tigermans Footsteps by Colin Guest is a non-fiction book about the author’s worldwide travels while working on hotels and other buildings. Throughout the book we follow Colin as he navigates different cultures and traditions while also having exciting adventures: some good, some bad, and some dangerous. Through his writing we get a glimpse of Iran, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Turkey, Indonesia, Malaysia and various other countries.

I give this book 3 out of 4 stars. One thing I liked about this book is that the author has a great way of retelling his stories; he makes you feel as if he is your close friend and you both are sitting at a quiet café sharing stories. Another thing I really enjoyed is the thrill that the book starts with. The first chapter depicts Colin’s life when he was working on a hotel in Iran during a politically unstable time which would then turn out to be the famous Iranian Revolution. I found myself holding my breath, worried that something would happen to the author. Even though in the back of my mind I knew that he had to have made it out okay because he lived to have many other adventures and then one day write a book about them.

The only reason I did not give this book 4 stars is because sometimes the story slows down a little too much for my taste but since this is a non-fiction book I guess that makes sense because nobody’s life is all action all the time.

Overall this book was a great read. Colin Guest managed to open my eyes to new and intriguing countries, some of which will be added to my list of countries to visit in the future. He also gives some helpful lessons without sounding cheesy. After reading this book you will realize that sometimes good things come out unfortunate circumstances.

Follow in the Tigerman’s Footsteps is a book for readers who love adventure and travel but are stuck somewhere and are unable to start their travels just yet. It’s also a book for people who just need a little push towards their dreams because if there is one thing I will take away from this book, it is to grab all the electrifying opportunities that come your way because you never know where they might lead you.

Hi Kimmy, Many thanks for your comment. If you have time to read it, please do so. As I mentioned it reads more like an adventure book than a memoir.

Best regards
