When Business Is Love is a book that combines love, life, and work, giving out real-life experiences about how a generational business grew from a small business of making sandals and beds to an international distributor of high-quality handcrafted beds.

Hästens, a company that has survived through many generations, was founded on a very strong foundation of craftsmanship, determination, and love. The great-grandfather of the author, Pehr Adolf Janson, was born into a large family during harsh times, which shaped his determination in life since he needed to earn a living due to his family's poverty. After passing Hästens from one generation to another, they finally made up their minds to specialize in making beds and mattresses. The author has chosen different topics in life and used the company as a tool to explain them. The author talks about mastership and how a master behaves and conducts himself, which is a very important aspect in a business. He talks about the positive mentality that workers should have towards the company. Then he talks about how customers should be addressed and given high-quality goods instead of cheaper ones. He also talks about how he went through a dark age when the business was not performing, giving ways to handle the situation and grow the business by simply changing the mindset that one is not limited. The author has tackled the topic of the business environment well, explaining the business environment in Sweden and how one can create a positive business environment, which is a perfect condition for a business to thrive. The author has given ways in which a mentor can be useful in a business. In his case, he gives his mentor company, Apple, a well-known company that sells high-quality electronics.

Jan Ryde has carefully chosen different subtopics in which he discusses his topic within that boundary, relating it to how he was running the Hästens company. Another positive aspect is that the author uses metaphors, which is a very wise way of educating his readers and thus making the book a carrier of knowledge, not just business-related but also applicable to life in general.

There is nothing I dislike about the book since it is more relatable to our day-to-day accounts in life. Thus, I will give this book a perfect rating of 5 out of 5 stars.

The book is well-written and professionally edited. I would definitely recommend this book to readers who want to know more about the business environment and how to run a business. It is also suitable for young individuals since the book contains tons of life experiences that are very useful, to youths as a coaching tool.
