Have you ever looked at the sky, the stars, and the moon and been mesmerized by the lovely scene? At times, I reminisce about that night when I was impressed by the beauty of the sky and looked up, recalling the names of the stars we learned about – Orion, Leo, and others. My imagination sometimes goes wild, wondering about what lies beyond the sky.

We are all curious about what happens after we die; most fear death and pray it doesn't occur to us or our loved ones. However, in reality, death is inevitable, and it is a circle of life that we must all pass through. The question remains: what happens after we die?

"A Voice from Heaven" by Alexander V Girman & Cynthia J Girman is a moving story about Alec. Tom and Cynthia first met Alec in the orphanage outside Kaliningrad, Russia. His angelic face won their hearts, leading to his adoption. He was later diagnosed with ADHD, which made him seem socially awkward. Alec excelled in science and technology, but his loneliness led him to seek joy by experimenting with different drugs. Despite his parents' relentless efforts to free him from this addiction by enrolling him in various programs such as Alcoholics Anonymous/ Narcotics Anonymous, it continued to prevail. Their only hope is that their worst fear doesn't come true. His mother's heart is restless and requires assurance that her son is okay. Is she ready for the revelation?

I liked how "A Voice from Heaven" delved into meaningful topics like life, death, and the afterlife. The story of Alec and his struggles with ADHD and drug addiction touched my heart and made me admire the dedication of his parents. The conversations between Alec and his mother felt personal and allowed me to connect with him. The book was well-written and flowed smoothly, making it an engaging read. I also appreciated the wisdom-filled passages from Alec that left me with valuable life lessons. As a Christian, the book's exploration of spirituality resonated with my beliefs. Therefore, I don't hesitate to give it 5 out of 5 stars.

There are a few interpretations of what happens after we die that I may disagree with; however, I do acknowledge that theories of the afterlife can vary greatly depending on personal beliefs. It can also be confusing and requires a lot of research. Other than that, I found nothing to dislike about this fabulous book.

Cindy and Tom collaborate with researchers at UNC on non-pharmacological transcranial alternating current brain stimulation as a treatment for substance use disorder. She also shares contacts where individuals dealing with depression and crises due to substance abuse can seek help.

Readers seeking inspiration and life lessons will find powerful words of wisdom within these pages. Whether you are a believer in the afterlife, a Christian seeking spiritual insights, or someone who values heartfelt and empathetic stories, this book offers a compelling and relevant journey for all.
