A Voice From Heaven by Alexander V. Girman and Cynthia J. Girman is a magnificent book about more than words can explain. Cindy, a bereaved mother, mourns the death of her son Alec, interacts with him in the afterlife, and tries to comprehend his life, addiction, and journey through the afterlife. The book is one-of-a-kind, passionate, motivating, and an emotional rollercoaster. It helps a reader put life into perspective while appreciating the author's intricacies and grasping the depths of addiction. Something about the book's blurb piqued my interest: fifty percent of the proceeds will go toward research on substance abuse diseases and therapies. I considered that to be a noble and sincere action coming from those who understand what it's like to lose a loved one to addiction.

I must begin by stating that I thoroughly loved this book from beginning to end. Was reading it usually enjoyable? No, not always. The subject of addiction is extremely complex, and the loss it causes is even more so. Although the book's tone was raw and painful, there were also motivating undertones that, in my opinion, provided a really pleasant reading experience.

The book was incredibly beautifully written; I felt like every syllable was packed with raw emotion, and that is what made the book a worthwhile experience for me. I believe that one should read this book with an open mind because there are discussions of the afterlife and religion, but I also believe that you may read this book even if you do not believe in Christianity.

There was nothing I didn't like about this book, and there were no errors, indicating that it was professionally edited. I give this book 5 out of 5 stars since it was a pleasure to read.

In my opinion, open-minded nonfiction readers who are interested in reading about an enlightening journey into the afterlife should pick up this book.
