Reconfigurement by E. Alan Fleischauer provides an engaging perspective on the importance of planning ahead for retirement. E. Alan Fleischauer has several accreditations, wide range of experience in the financial industry and founded his own financial advisory firm. This knowledge is shown through the content of this book demonstrating firsthand experience he has had with clients.

I was drawn to this book by the cover art and as someone starting out their career in the financial industry, I thought this would be a great for my education. Although I do not live in the United States and some of the financial programs are not available in my location, I still found this an informative read. The authors guide of Reconfigurement is all about planning ahead. It is targeted towards individuals closer to retirement age, however I think anyone can gain insight to apply to themselves planning for their futures or family members.

The book covers a wide range of topics including starting with the importance about planning ahead and career aptitude assessments. I found these first couple chapters very interesting as we were provided with different statistics showing small percentage of people that are prepared for retirement and have started to plan for retirement. As well as how you should not only be thinking about what makes you happy now, but also in the future. The book then enters more technical content discussing different types of insurance, annuities, 401ks and social security. Although these are more technical topics, the writing had a lighter tone making the content more enjoyable to read.

Lastly, the book discussed investing and understanding the benefits and disadvantages of different types of investment vehicles such as Mutual Funds, EFTs or Bonds. It then explained how you create actionable steps from the knowledge discussed to create a plan and how to follow it. Through doing this the book did not shy away from talking about topics that people can be more hesitant to speak about such as debts, accidents, and estate planning. All should be considered and discussed when planning for your future.

I believe the information in this book is relevant to anyone who is looking to learn about investing, retirement or just starting to save. I think this book was well edited and found no errors during my read through. As result of this, I give this book 5 out of 5 stars. I will be looking up the other books the author mentioned he has published.
