Snatched Up to Heaven! by Jemima Paul and Arvind Paul is the narration and interpretation of the extraordinary dreams of heaven and hell by their daughters Priyanka and Deepika when they were, respectively, four and two years old. The narrations detailed in this book are not verbatim accounts of the dreams but better articulations by their parents. The authors make each interpretation in light of biblical scriptures that refer to heaven and hell. The authors do not use scientific, psychological, or theological rationalizations to interpret dreams. During dreams and multiple visits to heaven and hell, the young girls describe meeting God, Jesus, and many other characters from the Bible. They also witnessed people suffering in hell. These descriptions are the most detailed I have ever read, down to the beard of God, the mood of angels, and daily activities in heaven and hell.

This book relies on the premise that biblical scriptures, heaven, and hell are true, and since these dreams corroborate the scriptures, they too must be true. To further validate these dreams, the authors quoted biblical verses stating that young people (in this case, the authors’ daughters) will see visions and have a special place in heaven. The authors further substantiate the validity of the dreams by stating that their daughters experienced identical dreams. The authors also claim that there is no other way their daughters could have known such details about heaven and hell other than through spiritual revelation. However, the authors do not explore the possibility that their daughters could have heard about these details during Sunday school or through other means. There is some video evidence (in the appendix) of one of the girls reporting one of her dreams.

I love that the authors admit, at multiple points, the limitations of their interpretations. For example, the young girls reported seeing angels draped in red and green Christmas colors, but the authors concede that nothing in the scriptures backs or contradicts these claims. One of the young girls also claimed that animals lived outside the house of God, separate from where humans and angels dwell, even though no scripture describes such a setup.

I love that the authors debunked many myths regarding heaven and hell. For example, the kids shared that hell lasts forever, contrary to some beliefs that people in hell will suffer only for a while. Furthermore, the kids reported that people will not get second chances at redemption once they get to hell.

This book has one typographical error; other than that, it is well-edited. There are no instances of profanity or sexual content in this book. The only content that might count as violence is the description of the suffering in hell, with people pushed into boiling water and much worse.

I rate this book five stars out of five. The authors substantiated each interpretation with biblical verses and admitted limitations where appropriate. Even though the authors should have explored theological, psychological, or scientific explanations for these dreams, I think it is up to the readers to decide whether or not to believe them. I recommend this book to Christians and people of agnostic religions.
