Niching Up: The Narrower the Market, the Bigger the Prize by Chris Dreyer addresses the marketing world by providing explanations and examples for why you could make more money by niching up. If you are an entrepreneur or even are thinking to start your own business, you have probably heard about nothing. Chris Dreyer discusses the process of niching up. He also gives insights from other publications concerning the business world. Basically, when you decide to select a specific niche, you limit your target client to a very narrow group while increasing your potential earning by being the best in that niche. The author found out that 70% of his revenue was coming from only 40% of his clients. That motivated him to niche his marketing business. He gives various examples in multiple fields from sports champions to star war movies to explain the process of choosing a niche. Several of those examples were from his own experience in the legal industry mainly in personal injury where he selects to niche for his marketing service. He clearly classifies the advantages and disadvantages of niching up. In addition, the required steps toward niching your business were explained. Dreyer acknowledges that niching is not a solution for every business by addressing the downside of niching demonstrating his awareness of potential limitations. He focuses on sharing his experience and how niching help his business and the fact that it may or not help others. Even though, he provides you guidance and data to consider, this book is not a guide to help you find your own specific niche. As niching could be very good in one industry and cause bankruptcy in another on; it is a very individual decision and there are many industry-related points to consider before making such a decision.

The book serves its purpose to provide practical insights and guidance on the benefits of niching and excelling within a chosen market. It is a good reference to read before starting to narrow down your market and clients.

I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars. The author has clearly explained the concept of niche specialization and provides actionable steps with references and quotes from other books. The book was professionally edited, and it is a valuable resource for entrepreneurs seeking to establish themselves in a niche market.
