Work and Wealth in Scripture by Lawrence A. Clayton

Post by thomaslaw3 »

In this tome the author has taken on the task of drawing together the issues of work and wealth as found in the Bible. He makes a relatively in depth study of what the Bible has to say about the subject. Then he contrasts it with the ideas developed in diverse cultures and eras. Going from the “beginning of time” he draws out how various concepts of work and wealth have paralleled or contrasted with those found in Scriptures. He then helps the reader understand how these biblical concepts have been interpreted throughout the ages by each new generation and how those various interpretations have impacted our reality today. His goal is to help us see work and wealth as God given and, therefore, something for which we have to be accountable to Him. How we use work and wealth is not just for our pleasure or sustenance, but in accordance with God’s will.
