“Soaring” by Stanley Michelsen and James Corry is an amazing book about William Merrill Corry Jr. and the U.S. Navy. Corry was commissioned after graduation from the U.S. Naval Academy. The story also includes his nephew who served in the U.S. Army. Three U.S. Navy destroyer ships have been commissioned USS Corry since the early 1921 in honor of William Merrill Corry Jr. The second destroyer (DD-463 commissioned in 1941) led the D-Day invasion but was sunk by large artillery shells fired by the Germans when the ship was exposed due to lack of a smoke cover. The third USS Corry destroyer was commissioned in 1946. William Merrill Corry Jr. was a hero that set a great example of true patriotism. He was willing to give his life to help others. This book is very well-research and the detail it provides about destroyer ships and battle strategies is very educational and I definitely want to read the entire book to learn more about destroyer ships and what caused Corry’s death in his late 20s.

I love well-researched books, and this one seems to be just like that! Uncle-nephew's story is very interesting for me. When two close relatives battle together in a war unexpected events may take place. I would love to read about their patriotosm.

I am so looking forward to reading this book. I was an Army wife for 15 years and have learned a little of the history of what happened to the guys during that dreadful war. I am looking forward to reading this author's story and viewing all the research he has done to complete it. I am so glad that he is using the names of actual ships in the battles. Again, I can't wait to read this book. Thank you for reviewing it.

Soaring: The Legacy of U.S. Aviator #23 Lieutenant Commander William Merrill Corry, Jr. offers an enthralling journey through the extraordinary lives of William Merrill Corry Jr. and his courageous nephew, William Walden Corry. Authored by Stanley Michelsen and James Corry, this meticulously researched book immerses readers in the heart of naval history, from the valorous actions of the USS Corry (DD-334), USS Corry (DD-463), to the USS Corry (DD-817). While I encountered minor errors and redundancies, they didn't detract from the gripping narrative. With its vivid storytelling and captivating insights into pivotal historical events, Soaring is a must-read for anyone fascinated by the bravery and sacrifice of those who served.

Although the review seems intriguing and captivating, I'm not really into this. Despite the fantastic review, I was not interested in it. I sincerely hope that whoever reads this has a great time.

From the review "Soaring" by Stanley Michelsen and James Corry is an enlightening exploration into aviation and military histo and is a brilliant and substantial element on aircraft and the military where facts and happenings over time are clearly illustrated. The scholars portray their studies in a convincing and attractive manner. This leads to a suspense. The book indicates the growth of air force since its early steps in aviation to modern day aerial warfare, providing fundamental knowledge essential for the enthusiasts and historians. Definitely, very commendable more than 5-star rating is given to it so it is a must to read.

Thank you for the great review. I love historic fiction, so reading about the cold war is of interest to me. From the review I presume that the book covers more about the lives of William Merrill Corry, Jr., and William Walden Corry as they worked in the military. I have added it to my reading list.

Honestly, I'm a big fan of honoring those who can sacrifice their lives to save others, just like Wiliams and his nephew. Nice review!
