One smart, successful, and attractive Brit seeking love plus 28 (mostly) handsome male suitors -- what could possibly go wrong? (spoiler: everything!) Poppy Mortimer's adventures with the opposite sex and her subsequent "lessons learned" are hilarious, engaging, and impossible to put down.

Meet an amazing list of characters, from Mr. Incredible Hulk to Mr. Tikka Masala to Mr. Tunnel of Terror, as Poppy travels from the UK to the US to Australia and back, on her quest for success, fulfillment and the right guy. You'll travel with her as she navigates a series of truly disastrous dating experiences, and comes out a little bit wiser each time.

I love books, and I truly loved reading this one for its delightfully fresh humor and its candid chronicling of what many a fainter female (myself included) would have found daunting. My utmost respect to the author herself, who refused to give up against all odds, and in the end kept her incredible sense of humor and won in an unexpected way.

I especially enjoyed the refreshing and personal manner in which each of the stories were related -- I was instantly engaged by Poppy's bright, conversational tone and witty observations, not to mention her uproariously candid way of expressing (to the reader) (while withholding from her unfortunate date) exactly what was on her mind. And I really loved how she always confided in her Mum, who sounds like a fantastic person and the perfect best friend.

How the author kept her wonderful sense of humor throughout this series of bizarre encounters is a mystery, but her memoir is truly one of the funniest books I have had the pleasure to enjoy.

Well edited and hilarious from beginning to end, this book was indeed, in Poppy's own words, "a jolly good laugh"! I am giving it an easy five out of five stars.
