I am thrilled by the book When Business Is Love: The Spirit of Hästens—At Work, At Play, and Everywhere in Your Life by Jan Ryde. It is a narrative of self-development and leadership. The book took me on an exciting journey from the company's beginning in 1852, when Hastens was once a saddle producer, to when it became one of the world's most unusual and beloved brands through the leadership of the fifth-generation CEO, Jan Ryde.

The book details the underlying values, belief systems, principles, philosophies, and leadership that have driven an obscure Swedish firm to global prominence and relevance. While reading the book, I got an in-depth understanding of how one can apply the spirit of Hastens at work, at play, and everywhere in life. Jan Ryde shares his recipes for business management that guarantee fantastic results. As a result of the principles I encountered in this book, I learned how to get off the "hamster wheel" and operate on the highest frequency—love.

The methodologies Hastens operates by are remarkably explained in the book from one chapter to the next; these include work, mastery, growth, integrity, openness and trust, innovation, and so much more. The methodologies are like dynamite. By the time I finished reading the book, I had agreed that I could run a company—as well as my own life—on love.

This engaging book by Jan Ryde intrigues me in many ways. I like the author's writing style. The author methodically and logically explained the narrative. What I like most about the book is how the author systematically spells out the mindsets that govern and guide the company. For instance, the author talked about the abundance mindset in Chapter 5, which prevents the company from competing with anyone in a dog-eat-dog world. I appreciate the references given in this book. The author searched for several research sources and terms to support his writing. Therefore, his passion and industry are some of the good things about this book.

There are no negative aspects to consider in this book by Jan Ryde. It is a spotless book on leadership and management. When Business Is Love: The Spirit of Hästens—At Work, At Play, and Everywhere in Your Life by Jan Ryde is a well-written nonfiction work with excellent editing. I give Jan Ryde's book, When Business is Love, a flawless 5 out of 5 stars because the book met my expectations, was well structured, and was exceptionally edited.

I suggest readers who love self-development books read When Business is Love. I recommend this book to every CEO, family business person, and any entity thinking of succession planning. It is a must-read for everyone in business leadership. The author revealed management philosophies and ingredients for success in life and business.

I read this novel, and my highlight was Chapter Two, which delves into Jan Ryde's life story. He candidly shares his childhood experiences, the adversities he faced, and the profound shift in his mindset that enabled him to overcome the challenges.
