Review of “Wisdom Of The Men”
Insightful and inspiring are the two prominent terms that can be used to describe this book, “Wisdom Of The Men,” by Clint Arthur. The book takes its readers on a captivating journey through the life of Clint Arthur. Clint initially embarked on a career as a taxi driver but managed to ascend to the heights of success as an accomplished author, coach, and overall businessman.
The author vividly portrays his journey, beginning with his humble origins as an underground taxi operator striving to make ends meet. A pivotal moment in Clint's narrative was the passing of one of his cherished teachers, also a revered writer. This event spurred him to pursue his 'Hollywood Dream' of becoming a screenwriter. After years of arduous labor towards this aspiration, he came to the realization that success in Hollywood demanded more than just talent; it required networking and connections. The narrative delves into his decision to relinquish this dream and transition into entrepreneurship, a venture that gradually gained momentum. Subsequently, he ventured into the realm of authorship, expending relentless effort to discover avenues for promoting his work.
A recurrent theme in Clint's remarkable journey was his encounters with a plethora of celebrities and entrepreneurs, as well as the extraordinary privilege of meeting five US presidents. On each occasion, Clint posed a poignant question: “What is the most important lesson you have learned?” The diversity of responses he received was staggering. Noteworthy among them was Mick Jagger's insight: “You can't always get what you want, but if you try, sometimes you might find you get what you need.” Clint astutely assimilated these insights into his personal and professional life, harnessing the wisdom of the accomplished to fuel his own success.
The book excels in its ability to interweave personal anecdotes, such as Clint's revelations about his father, his encounters with his child's mother, his relationship with his child, and also his relationship with his wife. These relationships all played a role in shaping the trajectory of his success.
In terms of highlights and critiques, the author's persistent inquiry into the formative lessons of successful individuals stood out as a commendable approach. The parallels drawn between their insights and his own experiences effectively illustrated his growth. The book maintains an engaging narrative flow, ensuring accessibility and clarity for readers. However, the sole drawback emerges in the organization of the story. At times, the story abruptly switched between present occurrences and past reflections. This occasionally led to moments of initial confusion, which caused me to reread in order to comprehend the context. Despite this, the narrative ultimately regains its stride, allowing readers to easily reorient themselves.
In summation, “Wisdom Of The Men” is an exceptional read, deserving of a five out of five stars rating due to its evident flawless editing. The book caters to those in search of motivation, distinguishing itself from conventional self-help literature. Clint Arthur's skillful curation of the lessons he gleaned from accomplished figures adds a unique dimension to the motivational genre, making this book a valuable asset for anyone who seeks inspiration beyond the ordinary.
