A Dream for Peace by Dr. Ghoulem Berrah is a masterpiece. It surely surpassed my expectations. It is a life story of peace, love, freedom, and much more. The author had an extraordinary life. It starts with a glowing prologue by Monsignor Justo Mullor Garcia, a lifelong friend. It then proceeds to award the reader 17 great chapters. These are well-arranged and distinct. In the end, there’s an equally good epilogue. This is clearly not your ordinary biography. It’s an amazing story that spans Africa, Europe, America, and back!

I am torn between two chapters. Chapter 6 – The Call of Africa, and Chapter 11 – Our Common Faith, are my favorites equally. This is not to say the other 15 are any bad. Either way, these two hit me a bit differently and deeply. I also like the fact that there are a couple of pictures. These actually help. The author also recognizes a couple of people to a great extent. Good examples include President Felix Houphouet-Boigny, who was more than a boss, and Professor Walter Konetzka, who was more than an instructor. He explains in detail how this book would lack significant content without these individuals. Finally, I appreciate that the author mentions his failures and challenges alongside his glaring achievements. This makes his story quite human. The only thing I disliked about the book is Chapter 11, where the author describes Islam as the religion of the poor. I dare say that is not the case, especially where I come from.

Truly, this piece is exceptionally edited. This is courtesy of Nana Yalley. I found only four errors in the entire book. In my opinion, these don’t warrant the loss of a star. Considering the overwhelming likes and only one dislike in the chapter above, I gladly rate this good book five out of five stars. This is to say that the book was nothing short of perfect!

I recommend this book to grown-up folks. Obviously, anyone who promotes world peace will love this piece. Peace, in this case, refers to the use of discreet dialogue instead of war and arms. This book is lengthy, so, I wouldn’t recommend it to faint-hearted readers who would rather have a quick read. Still, it is worth the read. A reader of any religion will enjoy it, especially when they read Chapter 11. Finally, individuals engaged or interested in diplomacy will learn quite a lot here.
