Review of 28 Disastrous Dates by Poppy Mortimer
Poppy Mortimer's '28 Disastrous Dates' is a book that illustrates the author's awful experiences on every date she had. The author narrates her dating escapades by documenting her first date, aged 20 years old, to the last one, aged 40 years old, from Manchester, England, to Perth, Australia, and Los Angeles, United States, to Melbourne, Australia. From dates originating from online dating sites to dates that kick off from interactions at her workplace to dates originating from entertainment places like bars and nightclubs, the author lays bare gripping, humorous scenes that leave the readers anticipating the next date.
Poppy Mortimer rolls from one date to another, experiencing a unique scenario. Other dates leave her in horror, like 'Date 1: Mr. Strong Man.' "You know when you can't believe what you're seeing? When your brain ceases to function while trying to comprehend what's happening? That's my current experience. My jaw falls open. Has he photo-shopped it or something?" she writes. Other dates leave her in a rage, like 'Date 16: Mr. Catfish' and 'Date 23: Mr. Rich Guy, Poor Guy.' Some dates get the author in a dilemma and humbled, like 'Date 24: Mr. Third Wheel.
I am in love with this book. The author used an intriguing, humorous tone and phrases throughout the scenes to hold tight to the reader's attention with mesmerizing, beautifully flowing stories. The author leaves behind present-day life lessons that will shape the love industry forever. From 'Mr. Incredible Hulk', 'Mr. Bat Cave,' and 'Mr. Hyde,' the author outlines several attributes one should look for when searching for a soulmate. The author leaves a lesson in every single date she penned down. There is absolutely nothing that I don't like in this book. This is because the book is professionally edited, and the author moved from one scene to another maintaining a captivating momentum that makes the reader always long for the next scene.
I give this book a 5 out of 5 star rating. The book is professionally edited and has exciting stories. I recommend this book to people who like romance books. This is a book they will always enjoy reading. This book will also help soulmate-searching individuals who wish to learn how to choose wisely their soul mates.
