Review of Euphoric: Ditch Alcohol and Gain a Happier, More Confident You
There is often a stigma surrounding the concept of drinking alcohol. Whenever someone mentions being permanently sober, people often become surprised and pound them with questions regarding their decision. There is often the assumption that people commit to sobriety because of an issue with addiction when the reality is that people can quit drinking for all sorts of reasons. Karolina Rzadkowolska’s Euphoric: Ditch Alcohol and Gain a Happier, More Confident You is a book that discusses all the benefits of committing to sobriety as a casual drinker.
Euphoric: Ditch Alcohol and Gain a Happier, More Confident You is a book divided into three sections. The first part discusses factors of alcohol and its negative effects on your body. The next part enters a deep dive that discusses the positive aspects of avoiding alcohol. The final part contains an eight-week guide that explains how to become fully sober. Together, they create a manual that can help guide casual drinkers into sobriety and break free from repetitive cycles of distress.
Reading this book gave me a far more developed understanding of the impacts of drinking. Since I had always been sober, I could never comprehend the damage inflicted on someone each time they drank. Rzadkowolska has shown me throughout the novel how damaging alcohol can be and how big of a blessing it is to live a sober life with an open mind.
For the most part, this book was an eye-opening read. However, the element of repetitiveness made it hard to finish reading. While I was going through the chapters, there were times that I felt like I was reading a concept that I had just seen a few pages back. This made me feel like I was reading the same thing in circles.
This book represented a unique take on the world of consumption and did an excellent job explaining how one did not need to be a full-blown addict to work on improving in life. It also looks professionally edited, as I only found one error. However, some parts of the book came off as redundant and it was tiring to read. Therefore, I would give Euphoric: Ditch Alcohol and Gain a Happier, More Confident You a rating of 4 out of 5.
I believe this book is one that is suitable for adults of any age. It serves as a great book of validation for those who choose to be sober, a portal of hope for casual drinkers who don’t know what’s wrong with their bodies, and a beacon of hope for alcoholics who don’t see the point in quitting their bad habits. No matter what one’s relationship to alcohol is, there is always something to gain from this book.
