Dr. Ghoulem Berrah's ambition and desire to see a peaceful nation devoid of injustice and inequality were fuelled by a resilient and unyielding spirit. A Dream for Peace is the autobiography of Dr. Ghoulem Berrah and his quest to liberate his country from the shackles of colonialism.

Dr. Ghoulem, an Algerian, was born during French colonial rule. Growing up, he was very brilliant and performed well in school. He disliked the cruel treatment his people suffered at the hands of the colonial masters. Due to his academic performance, he was awarded a scholarship to study medicine in France. He later became a professor at Yale University. He used his experience in the western world and academic qualifications to help his people. As a lover of peace, he was able to resolve so many conflicts through dialogue. His struggles were not easy, but his dream of peace eventually came true. Algeria finally gained independence, and injustice became a thing of the past.

I so much admired the author's resilience and selflessness. Even when he was in France, he revolted strongly against the discrimination Algerians and other Africans faced. He could have backed down after becoming a professor, but he insisted that justice must be served. What amazed me the most was the fact that he employed simple dialogue in his quest for your freedom, in which case others would have resorted to violence. Honestly, this is truly inspiring, and I wish those at the helm of affairs would emulate Dr. Ghoulem Berrah.

There is obviously nothing to dislike about this book. I love the simple use of English in this work. There was no ambiguity whatsoever, and the author was careful to arrange the events in chronological order. The use of images also helps the reader get a full mental picture of the story. I must commend the author for this.

I rate this book five out of five stars. I did not see any substantial reason to deduct a star from my rating. I did not encounter any form of error while reading, so I can say it was professionally edited. I recommend A Dream for Peace to everyone striving towards the permanent eradication of injustice and discrimination in our society. I also recommend it to those in the ruling class. History lovers will also find this book interesting.
