I would highly recommend the book "Niching Up" by Chris Dreyer. The book is well-written, well-organized, it covers the topic of how one can benefit from choosing to nitch up, and it is easy to read.
The author describes his experience in business with multiple stories that one can understand. He shares how he achieved success developing a multi-million dollar business through niching up. The book outlines the advantages and disadvantages of choosing to specialize in a narrow field but the advantages far outweigh the disadvantages. The author covers the topic of what it takes to be an expert, and how that changes the game in terms of profits. He wants to promote quality over quantity when doing business. His advise is very valuable on how to go into a chosen field and learn everything there is to learn about it, learn the terminology, the people involved, the problems they face and then find a solution for them. That will show you the niche you can add value to, have clients and be successful. He describes the process of relationship building, getting referrals and the types of referrals there are. The book emphasizes the topic of adding value by being the best in his field, and how that relates to the fees he can charge for premium services. The author prides himself of being an expert in his field and the book describes his effort and focus to learn the in's and out's of his chosen field of expertise.
Overall, the book can be helpful to anyone reading it. It would relate to enterpreneurs at any stage of doing business, from setting up a business model to the ones looking to improve, or looking for a new direction and perspective. It could be used to teach a business class because of the multiple layers of topics it covers. It adds value for the reader.
