“Purpose” by Gina Bianchini was a pleasant surprise. For the first time I have found a book about a non-practical and tangible topic, that transforms it into a very much tangible one. First thing first, the English was very comprehensible even for someone whose first language is not English, with no grammar mistakes or typos.
Second of all, I would rate this book four stars out of five. Why? Let me explain.
“Purpose” is a journey, not just a book. It starts with the story of the author and her path to create her current business. Going through success and failure, Bianchini explains and shares an amazing and inspiring story about creating your own purpose.
The book highlights particular aspects such as the sense of community, both in real life and online with an excursus on social media and how they changed; the importance of an ad-hoc “ritual” created to achieve said purpose; being an active “hero” in your own story. In particular, I felt it was really interesting the way the author explains and divided the community aspects. It gave the perspective of having the possibility to branch out your first community, aka the family, and creating the second one (called here “the core one”) that really influences ones lives.
Furthermore, what I really appreciated about the book, were the practical questions and exercises. They reminded me of the very infamous “manifestation” trend that we see on social media, that in a psychological and self-development point of view, is really powerful. I will do them myself actually.
I feel is necessary to mention that many of the more theoretical aspects touched by the author, have a scientific base, explained throughout the pages.
If you want to have a practical guide to better understand and navigate your life, bot online (by the end of the book, many pages include practical steps that even a content creator might benefit from) and offline, engaging in your own community (or create one), “Purpose” is the book for you.
