Niching Up by Chris Dreyer is a book targeting a specific audience. This is not for the general reader, it is for someone anxious to make money online. And for someone who is confused as to how he should start, this little volume is practical and interesting.

If you want to know how to do something, you should ask the expert – and Chris certainly is that. He runs Rankings.io, an SEO agency for personal injury lawyers. The website is impressive. Because Chris has specialised in that topic, his work is much sought after, and he can claim high fees for his expertise.

While the topic of niches can be rather dry, Chris makes it interesting as you follow his journey to the top. What made him so successful? And how can you do it?

There are clear guidelines for you to follow, and the book is well set out with good chapter headings, so you can find the relevant information easily. Chris breaks up the text with text boxes and also provides you with useful further reading suggestions throughout the book. The short "About the Author" at the end helps you realise that he knows his subject well

I liked his word pictures, e.g. “… a rising tide lifts all boats…” You can see exactly what he means by this vivid image. Chris’s interpretation of this quote, “Compound interest is the eighth wonder of the world,” by Einstein gave it a new meaning for me, and I was introduced to the “iron triangle”.

As you would expect, there are no typing errors, no sloppy presentation, and everything is laid out logically and neatly. I particularly like his conclusion, which is a lucid summary of the book.

Chris is being true to himself in writing a “niched up” book for a specific reader niche, and I found nothing I disliked about the book.

I rate this book 5 out of 5: I couldn’t fault it and the advice was succinct, held together by his personal story to keep it interesting.
