Having lost Alec in a painful way, Cindy needed to be sure he was fine in the afterlife; she really wanted to know if he was having a hard time being accepted in heaven. What is heaven like? Is Alec dealing with Asperger's syndrome and ADHD in heaven? Was he in pain? These and a lot more were questions Cindy needed to answer.
A Voice from Heaven by Alexander V. Girman and Cynthia J. Girman tells the story of a woman who was dealing with the death of her son, who died due to a drug overdose. It tells the story of the love of a mother, even after the loss of her son. She just wanted to know how he was faring in the afterlife, and this led to her meeting with our son as he visited to answer all his mother's questions. It wasn't easy for her to accept the death of her son and to comprehend the circumstances behind his death since he was supposed to be doing well after rehab. This made her visit mediums who helped her communicate with her son until she could communicate with him directly without the medium's help.
At some point in our lives, we have all experienced loss, and we end up with a lot of unanswered questions about what the afterlife is. This book has an answer to those questions. It was written in Alec's voice, and this helps one connect with the love and peace he felt whenever he talked about heaven. I really love this book because it helps me understand how much a mother loves her son and how much a parent could feel guilty for a child's mistake.
The book also laid emphasis on seeking help; sometimes, our answers are just a step away. She sought help through a medium that helped her communicate with her son. Cindy later didn't just get to know how her son was doing; she was open to a new way of living life. Life is not something that happens to you; it should be something you experience. I was captivated while reading the book, and I must say the book was properly edited as I didn't notice any errors.
I would rate the book 5 out of 5 stars due to the reasons stated above. And I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who, at any point in time, experienced the loss of a loved one and is filled with a lot of questions, or is curious about the afterlife.
