Review of Purpose
Purpose by Gina Bianchini is an insightful and empowering book focusing on the importance of having a clear and crystallized purpose in our lives. The author stresses on how community has an impact on the people around us. In a short span of around 200 pages, the author has done an excellent job of highlighting the need of having a clear purpose ahead of us, how to uncover our hidden purpose in life and the role of being an active part of a thriving community focused on our purpose.
Gina Biancini is the Founder and CEO of the community platform Mighty Networks. She is also the former CEO and cofounder of Ning, a social media network platform that enabled people to create their own custom social network. In this book, she has walked the readers through her childhood in Cupertino, how her family encouraged her to be involved in communities and how the community helped her when tragedy hit her family. She has walked us through the impact of Apple on their lives, Cupertino being the home of the Apple computers. Through her engaging storytelling skills, Gina has walked us through the creation of Ning network, how and why it became a massive success and why gradually they had to sell Ning. She has then told us about her motivation behind founding Mighty Networks and how Mighty networks continues to be a massive success as a platform where people can create communities based on their own brand,
Gina motivates us to find our own purpose30 and our own vision of the future which is going to guide us throughout our journey of finding our purpose. With the traditional story of a hero leading a normal life and then his journey towards his transformation, she emphasizes on the necessity of having mentors and allies in our journey towards success. She emphasizes on the importance of a mentor as a mentor has the power of unlocking thousands of heroes’ journey towards their own purposes. She thus encourages the transformed heroes to become mentors, rather hosts, so that they can again help others find their own purpose.
For the people who shies away from the prospect of being a host, preferring to contribute instead, she skillfully debunks all the so-called reasons for their denial. She also takes us throughout the entire process of hosting a successful community.
In my opinion, this book scores a solid 5 out 5.
We also have to praise the author and the editor for their awesome editing. I could not find a single spelling mistake in the entire book, which is indeed a huge feat.
For all the readers out there looking for their purpose, I would certainly recommend this book to you.
