Review of YOU CAN TALK TO ANYONE:
Name of the book: YOU CAN TALK TO ANYONE
Author's name: Ellen Dawson
Summary: The book "YOU CAN TALK TO ANYONE: Easily Engage in Conversation Using Proven Communication Skills and Forge Strong Interpersonal Connection", written by Ellen Dawson, is a self-help book that provides handheld support to people who are not able to socialize again after a long period of being isolated. People may feel isolated for several reasons. These periods of isolation can occur due to any personal or global pandemic. One such recent example is the global pandemic of COVID-19, which forced human mankind to be quarantined and stop all socializing activities.
The author has also provided stats that over 36% of the American populace suffers from intense loneliness and social seclusion. After being isolated for a long time, there are chances that a person loses their prior enthusiasm to interact with others in social situations. This is what the authors classify as losing one's 'magic touch'. When you feel apart from everyone, the author advises that it's time to take steps to get back out there. Sometimes we know what we need to do but we don't know where to start. But this book is for our rescue.
Positive: I liked how the author provided insight into her life and provided practical tips that helped her. So, the readers who are looking for help know that there are all the proven ways to cure their problems. The author states how her daughter helped her to get out of her social detachment. This shows that our loved ones can cure the severest of problems of our lives.
Negative: In my opinion, it would have been better if there were separate sections for different types of people seeking help. For example, different age groups. But that too would have made the book a bit longer, and readers wouldn't stick till the end. Other than this, I didn't find anything that could be put into this section of the review.
I will rate this book a 5 out of 5 because this book has helped me a lot. I am an introvert. It is very difficult for me to go out there and interact with people until it becomes a necessity for me. Because of this, people often take this nature of me as my selfishness, which is not correct. I think this can happen with many people in this world, and this book can be the ultimate guide for them.
Recommendation: I'd recommend this book to someone who is going through clinical anxiety and depression. Someone feeling social isolation or detachment can benefit from this book a lot. It provides step by step process that can help any such person.
Errors: I didn't find any errors in the book. It is exceptionally well-edited.
